I caught myself making a mistake when referring to natural cosmetics when they are not natural. Until very recently, I had a little knowledge about the distinction between natural and organic products. How to distinguish a natural or organic cosmetic from a drugstore one?

When purchasing cosmetics, always make sure that:

• natural cosmetics – they contain ingredients of plant, mineral or marine origin and have not been processed with synthetics. However, this does not mean that they do not contain any synthetics or preservatives
• organic cosmetics – are all products made of ingredients from ecological crops with strict conditions in which only natural ingredients such as essential oils are used as preservatives.

Conclusion? Organic cosmetics are much better than natural ones, which is why it is worth looking for them in healthy food shops or online. A great way to choose a cosmetic is to carefully read the label where you should find at least some valuable information. You will recognise natural / organic cosmetics  by:

● INCI, the exact list of ingredients from the packaging (the manufacturers often do not give the exact composition), reading it should become your first step after reaching for a product  – the more oils and extracts, and less alcohol and unidentified substances, the better for us;

● ECOCERT / COSMEBIO, BDIH, SOIL ASSOCIATION, ICEA, NATRUE, a group of certificates (for France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy and whole Europe), confirming that the cosmetics meet the standards of using natural ingredients and safe formulas.
